Kristianstad was founded in 1614 by King Christian IV of Denmark. The city was initially built as a fortress, surrounded by wetlands that provide a natural defence. Visit Kristianstads Vattenrike.
Kristianstad – Åhus. 20km.
Åhus is one of Sweden’s best-preserved medieval cities. Narrow streets lined with picturesque half-timbered houses. At Helge stream estuary are the ruins of the Åhus Castle from the 12th century and the remains of the city wall. The town is well-known for Absolut Vodka and Otto ice cream.
Åhus – Brösarp. 33km.
In Friseboda reserve you ride just next to the sea. Enjoy the views of sandy beaches and the endless blue sea.
Brösarp – Kivik. 30km.
The trip continues through hilly landscape, farmland, pastures and forests. Ride by Vitaby church overlooking the landscape from its hill, continue to Kivik where the apple is in focus with many apple orchards and thousands of apple trees. Visit the Musteri and King´s grave.
Kivik – Simrishamn. 20km.
Hike to the top of Stenshuvud hill, 97 metres above sea level, where you will have a magnificent view of the sea and landscape.
Around Rörum and Vik there are many nice cafés and restaurants to choose from.
Simrishamn is dated back to the 12th century, known for its houses in pastel colours and beautifully carved wooden doors. On a beautiful summer day, the scent of roses can be felt while strolling along the streets of the old part of Simrishamn.
